The Robert Allan design surpasses currently existing standards
Boluda Towage and Salvage, the harbor, coastal and offshore towage and maritime rescue division of Boluda Corporación Marítima, has added a new cutting-edge tug to its fleet in Spain.
The “VB Xaloc” is an AVT (Advanced Voith Tractor) type tug. It has been designed by the prestigious naval architects firm Robert Allan Ltd., who in conjunction with Boluda’s experience in harbour and offshore towing, have optimized the under 500 GT class tugboat, obtaining the best product for these operations. It measures 31.70 meters long, with a 12.80m beam and 4.7m depth, 7,500 HP and a bollard pull of 95.90 metric tons. It will provide escort and towing services in port and at sea.
This new generation of tugs surpasses currently existing standards and will certainly be a benchmark for the sector. Its technical features include a significantly improved control station and excellent maneuverability, both in port and at sea. It has an integrated control system that adjusts the operation of each tug to its position paying special attention to energy efficiency, in line with with Boluda Corporacion Maritima’s corporate social responsibility policy, which holds respect for the environment as one of its cornerstones.
