The facilities, currently being renovated on a farm in the Santa Maria de Guía locality, will provide a space for mistreated animals to convalesce and be adopted, as well as helping people with disabilities

Through the sale of a 40ft and a 20ft container for a symbolic amount, Boluda Corporación Marítima has collaborated again with the Las Tradiciones farm school located in the town of Santa María de Guía, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This organisation raises awareness of the treatment of abandoned and mistreated animals, and helps them to recover and find new homes. Both containers will be recycled to provide care for the animals.

This is the second time that Boluda Corporación Marítima has collaborated with this non-profit association: last year the company donated a 20ft container and sold a 40ft one at a symbolic Price.

Las Tradiciones farm school also aims to provide social assistance to disabled people with constrained economic resources, as well as to develop educational and training activities that offer social education about the country and animal farming sector.

Boluda Corporación Marítima’s strategy to support non-profit associations and non-governmental organizations is part of its corporate social responsibility program.

For the charitable project the maritime corporation is supporting, the association is currently collecting all types of equipment to create the facilities needed for the project. The facilities are being refurbished with recycled material on a farm located between the municipalities of Galdar and Santa María de Guía.

Speaking on the subject, director of Las Tradiciones farm school Manuel Rivero said that the association aims to “use recycled materials both for the farm refurbishment and the equipment to be installed”, adding “we want to demonstrate that with recycling and good taste you can produce educational and civic training activities, raising awareness and helping people with disabilities at the same time.”

The farm is located on the GC-292 road in Santa Maria de Guía, and its 3,738m2 plot includes a vegetable allotment, exhibition and exercise areas,  terracing,  pastures, children’s farm,  chicken run, orchards, stables, handicrafts exhibition spaces, drinking troughs, area for birds, dining room and toilets, plant nursery, tool-sheds and parking for coaches and cars.

By selling the containers for a symbolic amount Boluda Corporación Marítima is helping towards improving animal treatment and care, as well as educating young people on animal and agricultural farming practices.
