Boluda Towage received this distinction for its ongoing commitment to innovation across its fleet, implementing energy-optimization systems aimed at achieving increasingly efficient and sustainable towage operations.
Yesterday, during the Gala ceremony of the ITS Awards 2026, celebrated in in Gothenburg, Sweden, Boluda Towage was recognized by the industry becoming Innovation Company of the year.
A distinction that recognized the company’s implementation of Total Energy Optimization Systems (TEOS), including the integration of shaft generators on newly built tugboats from 2025 onwards.
This integration represents a forward-thinking approach in harbour towage, where traditional electrical generation models have historically relied on independent auxiliary units. The shaft generator configuration establishes a new benchmark for energy management efficiency within high-demand port operations.
The technological upgrade directly reinforces Boluda Towage’s long-term decarbonization roadmap and corporate sustainability objectives, aligning fleet development with international emissions reduction target.
During his speech, Antonio Bordils, CEO of Boluda Corporación Marítima, expressed his appreciation to “all professionals, colleagues, suppliers, and stakeholders who made this recognition possible.
