Following an international call for tenders launched by Nador West Med, the consortium formed by Boluda Towage France (a subsidiary of Boluda Towage, the towage division of Boluda Corporación Marítima and world number one in the sector), and Marsa Maroc, has obtained authorisation to carry out towage and assistance activities in the port of Nador West Med for a period of 20 years, starting in the last quarter of 2026.

The consortium will create a joint subsidiary to manage this licence and make the corresponding investments, including the acquisition of a fleet of 4 tugboats with a towing capacity of 80 tonnes, for a total amount of around 45 million euros. Boluda Towage France will hold 51% of the subsidiary’s capital and Marsa Maroc the remaining 49%.

This operating licence will enable Marsa Maroc to structure its Towing Business Unit, created to capitalise on the specific know-how in this activity and to develop it, in the long term, into a recognised expertise.

To date, the Marsa Maroc Towing Unit provides maritime services in the ports of Nador, Al Hoceima, Mohammedia, Safi, Agadir, Laâyoune and Dakhla.

Marsa Maroc is the national leader in port terminal management, operating 25 terminals in 11 ports, with a total traffic of over 60 million tonnes.

As part of its new strategic vision, the company aims to strengthen its position in the Mediterranean Sea, while positioning itself as an integrated international port, maritime and logistics partner.
