Two tugs, the ROTTERDAM and the VB CHEETAH from the Boluda Towage Europe fleet, met and assisted the most recent world’s largest container ship, the HMM ALGECIRAS. The vessel, carrying 19,621 TEUs on its maiden voyage, called at the port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands on 3 June 2020. Boluda Towage Europe is also soon to welcome HMM ALGECIRAS at the ports of Antwerp in Belgium and London, UK.

Boluda Towage Europe would like to congratulate HMM on the HMM ALGECIRAS, its first new ship in a series of twelve 24,000-TEU class containerships.

A subsidiary of Boluda Corporación Marítima’s towing division Boluda Towage, Boluda Towage Europe operates 86 tugboats in the main ports of the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom, which form part of the over 300 tugboats of this division, which also operates in Spain, France, West Africa, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and the Indian Ocean.

HMM plans to improve its environmental ratings by operating 20 newly launched containerships equipped with a water purification system in line with IMO 2020 environmental regulations. The optimized hull design and highly efficient engine are also expected to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
