URAG operates in seven German ports with a fleet of eighteen state-of-the-art tugs

Boluda has acquired a 100% stake in the German towage company URAG and its subsidiaries URAG International and L&R, with a fleet of 18 port and offshore tugs, operating in 7 ports with a workforce of 140.

The signing took place in the German city of Hamburg, between Vicente Boluda Fos and Vicente Boluda Ceballos, with Klaus Thesenfitz, Chairman and owner of Linnhoff, the selling company.

This takeover is strategic for Boluda, providing a presence in important German ports such as Hamburg, the second, and Bremenhaven, the fourth largest in Europe, and is part of the current expansion program of Boluda Corporación Marítima’s towage division Boluda Towage and Salvage, which is already effective in France, the West Coast of Africa, the Indian Ocean, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Boluda’s newly-created company Boluda Deutschland will be in charge of the management of the German companies, which includes the subsidiaries, fleet and 140 current URAG employees, including crew and land personnel.

As well as the major ports of Hamburg and Bremenhaven, service will also be provided in Bremen (location of the company headquarters), Brake, Cuxhaven, Nordenham and Willhelmshaven. The 18 tugs of the fleet are state-of-the-art vessels with a 100 ton bollard pull, specialized in port and offshore towage and maritime rescue.

URAG is a historic European company with 126 years of history, founded to meet freight traffic demand on the Weser River as it passed through the city of Bremen, in the late nineteenth century. Since then it has evolved and specialized, and is currently one of the leading German towage companies, with a fleet of state-of-the-art vessels and a strategic presence in the major German ports.

181-year-old company L&R operates on the river Elbe and in the port of Hamburg.
