Boluda has sponsored all 23 editions
On 25 December Boluda Corporación Marítima once again sponsors the Puertos de Tenerife traditional Christmas concert organized by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife port authority. The event celebrates its 23rd year with a new production in which the soprano Ainhoa Arteta will lend her voice to Puccini’s most celebrated arias.
As part of the repertoire the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (OST) will perform the opera of Puccini, specifically renowned arias such as Si! My chiamano Mimi and Donde lieta usci, from La Boheme; and Sola, perduta, abbandonata, Manon Lescaut and Vissi d’arte, from the opera Tosca, under the baton of conductor Victor Pablo Pérez, who previously lead the OST in this emblematic Christmas celebration in 2011.
The concert will take place on Christmas night in the Llanos harbour, making use of the unique stage constructed last year from Boluda Lines containers, which has increased audience capacity to 30,000 and provided a better location and improved views to enjoy the post-performance fireworks display. Due to its special characteristics this concert is the only one to be held outdoors in Europe, and will be broadcast by RTVE Canarias. It can be watched on the Spanish TV channel La 2, and will also be broadcast on Radio 1, Radio 5 and Radio Exterior.
In addition to Puccini, the program includes popular compositions such as Azulao and Modinha by Argentinian musician Jaime Ovalle; Negra sombra, a ballad by Juan Montes; La rosa y el sauce, by fellow Argentinian Carlos Gustavino and the also popular Alfonsina y el mar, by Ariel Ramirez.
Soprano Ainhoa Arteta, recently awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts 2015 by the Council of Ministers, returns to the concert after a previous performance in 2006. She throws the spotlight on young Canarian singer Sislena Caparrosa’s performance in one of the programme’s pieces. “It’s an honour to be able to welcome in new talents, new generations, even more so if they are from the Canary Islands”.
This 23rd edition of the Puerto de Tenerife Christmas concert will again show solidarity by supporting the DISA Foundation, which as in previous years will donate 20,000 euros to a charitable cause: this year to the Aspronte project Club de ocio.
