Boluda Cargo International will be the Italian company’s general agent in Spain.

Boluda Cargo International and Logitec Lines have signed an agreement to open a new short sea shipping service linking the ports of Castellón and Marina di Carrara, Italy. The Spanish cargo company, which forms part of Boluda Corporación Marítima’s Boluda Ships Agency & Forwarding division, will act as the Italian company’s sole general agent in Spain, handling both cargo sales and shipments throughout the country.

The new regular ro-ro service will go into operation on 15 October, initially once a week, to be expanded within one month to reach three stopovers a week in each port. Its objective is to provide a top quality, on-time solution to the strong demand that exists. The ships to be used on this route are of 1,850 lineal metres with capacity for 120 trailers. They can carry any kind of wheeled vehicles and any kind of cargo – dry, refrigerated, special cargoes or dangerous goods. In fact it is the only service that accepts all types of ADR goods.

The project is being carried out within the framework of the Marco Polo transport programme, aimed at combating traffic congestion and protecting the environment by shifting freight transport among European Union countries away from roads and into short sea shipping.

With this new agreement and the new option offered to the professional transport market, Boluda Cargo International consolidates its objective of providing solutions with added value, responding with a quality product to the present and future needs of European intermodal transport. In this way the company consolidates its positioning as forwarder and shipping agent in the Spanish market.
