Boluda’s tug VB Antártico will enter service with Marine Salvage from today

The state-owned Sociedad de Salvamento y Seguridad Marítima (Sasemar – Marine Salvage and Safety Company) has extended the collaboration agreement with Boluda Corporación Marítima whereby the Group’s offshore division will make one of its tugs available on a full and exclusive basis to Sasemar, which comes under the Ministry of Public Works.

The signing of this agreement signals a further fifteen-month extension to the collaboration between the two organisations, which have enjoyed close working relations since 1990.

The VB Antártico, with 8,160 of brake horse power and a bollard pull of 110 tons, will provide services on a bareboat charter basis, and will be put into public service for salvage and rescue at sea, as well as the fight against pollution, covering the Spanish Mediterranean coastal areas.

Boluda Corporación Marítima provides this service through Boluda Off Shore, part of the Boluda Towage and Salvage division, which brings together all the tug business, the Corporation’s original business, and currently has a fleet of more than 200 vessels. Boluda Corporación Marítima is the leader in Spain in this sector and number three in the world.
