The shipyard division is currently working on the construction of 16 vessels, after delivering two tugs and three lighters so far this year.

Boluda Shipyards, the shipyard division of Boluda Corporación Marítima, today launched the tug ‘Ilan’, built for Haifa Port Company. This is the third time Boluda Shipyards has built ships for Israeli ports, having delivered two tugs in 2002, one of them for Haifa Port.

The new tug ‘Ilan’ is equipped with an innovative system of propulsion for the shipbuilding sector, incorporating high-revving diesel engines connected directly to Voith cycloidal propulsion units. The vessel has installed power of 4,000 kw, it has a total length of 29.5 metres, a beam of 11 metres and a depth of 4 metres.

“This tug demonstrates both the high quality shipbuilding capabilities of Boluda Shipyards and the consolidation of our shipyards’ position in the international market”, said Alicia Martín, General Manager of Boluda Corporación Marítima, at the launching ceremony, which was also attended by senior executives of Haifa Port.

Boluda Shipyards steadily turns out between eight and nine ships a year. It currently has 16 ships in various stages of production, plus the two tugs and three supply lighters delivered so far this year.
