  • Boluda Shipping is making an investment of more than 30 million euros in a maritime platform that will open the port of Santander to new national and international traffic

 

Valencia, December 1, 2022. The president of Boluda Corporación Marítima, Vicente Boluda Fos, announced after receiving the Industria Azul Award 2022, in its 4th edition, granted by the Cluster Marítimo de Cantabria, that the works of the Santander Container Terminal will be in service “between the months of March and April 2023”. The event was attended, among others, by the President of Cantabria, Miguel Ángel Revilla.

“It has been a great honor to be awarded this prize and I think it is the recognition of the efforts of our family, which has always considered that a port like Santander needed a Container Terminal to grow and complement its port traffic, which will facilitate the connection of Cantabria to the international arena,” said Vicente Boluda Fos.

The shipowner confirmed that it will join the 46 partners that make up the MarCA Cluster, with the aim of continuing to join forces with the maritime industry in the region and promoting the blue sector in Cantabria.

The president of the Clúster Marítimo de Cantabria, Juan Luis Sánchez, stressed that with this award the cluster acknowledges Vicente Boluda Fos for his “firm commitment to Cantabria as an important enclave in the national maritime field and the involvement of his company to promote the growth of the maritime industry in the community”.

Sánchez assured that the Cantabria Container Terminal will be of high value to promote an innovative economic model. “This is a project that will generate numerous jobs, both directly and indirectly, and will bring new international traffic to Cantabria.”

Miguel Ángel Revilla assured that “there are great expectations with Cantabria and the port of Santander” and showed his satisfaction for the recognition that the maritime sector of the region has given to Vicente Boluda Fos.

The works of the Container Terminal of the port of Santander began at the end of February of this year in the port lands of the north breakwater of Raos and the activity of Boluda Maritime Terminals Santander will involve an investment of more than 30 million euros.

Currently, Boluda Shipping, the division of Boluda Corporación Marítima is dedicated to the international transport of goods and logistics, through its subsidiary Boluda Maritime Terminals, and manages in Spain this type of infrastructure for the movement of containers in the ports of Las Palmas, Tenerife, La Palma, Fuerteventura, Villagarcía, Sevilla and Cádiz, and in 2023, the port of Santander will be joined by the port of Arrecife.

The award ceremony took place at the Maritime Station of Santander and was attended, among others, by the President of Cantabria, Miguel Angel Revilla, and the President of the Port Authority of Santander, Francisco Martín, as well as various institutional representatives and of companies and organizations linked to the Spanish maritime sector.
