Receiving recognition for his professional career, the Boluda Corporación Marítima President stressed “without employers there is no employment and without employment there is no well-being or dignity”
The Ateneo Mercantil de Valencia yesterday presented the fifth annual Ateneo Mercantil Awards to businessman Vicente Boluda Fos in the category of Economy, Progress and Society. Cardiovascular surgeon Salvador Torregrosa received the Health Sciences and Research prize and the chemist Rubén Darío Costa was awarded in the category of Science, Technology and Research.
The V Ateneo Mercantil Awards were presented at the Ateneo Mercantil Theater by the president of this cultural entity, Carmen de Rosa. Together with the general director of Social Dialogue Coordination, Zulima Pérez, on behalf of Generalitat President Ximo Puig, they awarded businessman Vicente Boluda Fos, President of Boluda Corporación Marítima.
On receiving the Ateneo Award, Vicente Boluda expressed his appreciation of the honour and of the work carried out by the entity: “We need a greater and stronger civil society, with more initiative, commitment and independence.”
The businessman dedicated his award to his family, the corporation’s professionals and to entrepreneurs throughout Spain. “This award is for my family in appreciation of the effort and sacrifice made by everyone and by the business group. It also recognises the commitment of our nearly 4,000 Boluda Corporación employees, and indeed of all entrepreneurs who despite the current difficulties, raise the blinds of their businesses every day to generate employment and wealth in their environment”.
In this regard, he underlined the fundamental role of entrepreneurs as part of society. “I have said this many times and it is worth repeating: without employers there is no employment, and without employment, besides being impossible to maintain our welfare state, there is no dignity. We are committed to developing and strengthening society. In truth, this award recognizes the work of thousands of anonymous businessmen who are building up our country” stressed Vicente Boluda.
