The company’s Management Systems director Carlos Rodríguez Gallo, who is also the regional dean of the Official College of Naval Engineers, took part in the opening event

Boluda Corporación Marítima is one of the sponsors of the 57th Conference of Naval Engineering and Maritime Industry, held in Valencia from 24 to 26 October. The opening event, held in the Oceanogràfic, was attended by the regional dean of the Official College of Naval Engineers of Valencia, Carlos Rodríguez Gallo, Management Systems director at Boluda Corporación Marítima.

During the conference projects were presented showing the state of the art and the vision of experts with different professions and experiences connected with the maritime industries. In response to the changing situation in shipyards with the emergence of Industry 4.0, this sector is in the process of developing new ways of working, analysing also new requirements with regard to employability, training and internationalization.

During the gala dinner awards were presented to the winning projects. The Gold Medal was won by Ramón Quereda, Mariano Pérez-Sobrino, Juan González-Adalid and Cristina Soriano for their work “CRP-POD propulsion system on the ships of tomorrow”. Luis Labella Arnaz received the Silver Medal for “VIHOMODEL. Applications of the 3D holographic model to the Naval Industry”, and the Bronze Medal went to Javier Pamies, Antonio Coronel, Darío Pérez, Marçia Rodríguez, Jacobo Vázquez and Diego Alonso for “MASTIL Project results applied to ship repair”.

The winning proposal deals with the so-called CRP-POD system, which combines a main propeller with a second propeller turning in the opposite direction for more efficient and environmentally-friendly navigation. This system is on the rise in recent years and is being installed in various types of large ships.

The Master’s Thesis award went to Alicia Ramírez Gutiérrez, from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, whose project was the “Initial and Conceptual Design of an Offshore Patrol Cutter”, a military vessel capable of carrying out amphibious operations, evacuating land forces and destroying coastal targets. 

During the dinner, the Eco Aqua catamaran received the award for “Most outstanding vessel of 2017”.
